Critically Important Pre-War Investment Piece
A truly iconic card from the 1930s and depicts one of the game's all time immortals. Like Jimmie Foxx and some others, Lou Gehrig is represented twice in the 1933 Goudey set. Offered here is a truly spectacular example of Gehrig's #92 card, held firmly within a brand new SGC 8 holder. This critically important pre-war gum card is often plagued by a slew of condition issues, suffering frequently from subpar focus and color. The offered specimen defies those normalcies, boasting bright color and near flawless registration. The card possesses stunning white borders around with a near faultless periphery. Furthermore, the corners are sharp and the card stock is extremely strong. If the hobby is lucky, one or two of these ultra high-grade copies will surface on the open market per year and when one does finally present itself it's aggressively targeted by intelligent investors. Gehrig was one of the most feared hitters on the New York Yankees during the 1920s and '30s and earned the nickname "The Iron Horse' while playing in 2,130 consecutive games over 15 seasons. A fine-art equivalent offering which comes highly recommended by PWCC. Please see the video highlight for more details. One of over 14,000 cards, lots and sets up for bid in our 5th Auction of 2020.
